The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is working to establish dialogue groups to discuss Constitutional Reform in Sri Lanka in the Southern, Central and Eastern Provinces. NDI will not be advocating any specific changes, but rather will be facilitating discussions among representatives from various sectors of Sri Lankan society.
NDI mobilized district based participants in all six districts of the Southern, Eastern Provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya in the Central Province. The participants representing political parties, trade unions, professional bodies, academics, business and civil society organizations are now members of District Multi-Stakeholders Forums (DMSF) in order to promote informed and inclusive dialogue on constitutional reform and peaceful coexistence within their districts. DMSF participants identified a number of issues for future dialogues on constitutional reforms. NDI researched on each of the isses that were identified by the District Multi-Stakeholder Forums as part of NDI Constitutional Dialogue Program.
We have designed this blog post to share the issues identified by DMSFs, research material NDI published, the recommendations from the DMSFs and the Policy Papers on the recommendations.
We hope that you will find these materials useful.
